The eve of greatness....

This morning, the nine left San Diego enroute to Brookings Oregon. Sounds easy, the team had a tough go of their drive, with Stephen's van encountering some brake issues on some of the downhills as they descended over the mountains from Redding. The Nine seemed to have it made, when they left the comfort of San Diego two days later.

That was before they encountered VD in Portland. Luckily, our trip doctor Deb managed to assauge our fears and show us how to properly eat a world famous Voodoo Donut, and that nobody needed antibiotics. Phew!

Our intrepid nine also managed to browse the Saturday market in Portland before we took a somewhat bumpy flight on Pen Air (very nice btw, and a brand new airline) to Crescent City airport. All flights normal, no hicups, except that our ground crew and our nine had a slight miscommunication sending our van and driver to Arcata Airport, about 2 hours south of where we were coming in. All in good fun, we managed to find a local watering hole to pass the time telling stories of the time we got VD in portland.

Which leads us to... tomorrow. We have 117 miles on offer. With the gale force winds in the area, an early start might be helpful, we have some exposed areas of our ride tomorrow, so it could get exciting. Luckly, some of it seems like it might be on our backs, pushing us along, but as of now the fingers are crossed. Stay tuned. Lots of fun pictures today, check out the instagram feed tab above. We love comments too.
