Day 4: Back to Civilization

Transitioning from rural to suburban, from traditional to modern, from relaxed to frantic can be nerve wracking. We saw our first traffic light in 3 1/2 days yesterday. It was jarring. We've been enjoying the flow of of sinuous mountain roads uninterrupted by anything. It's been wonderful. Not to say that day 4 wasn't. It was wonderful. We climbed some not so easy pitchy climbs right out of the chute in Sutter Creek and Amador City. But we soon settled into a nice 'downhill' run in to Sacramento via the elaborate bike path system along Folsom lake and the American River. It was our easiest day, but the fatigue has started to settle into our heavy legs.

When we finally pulled up to the state capitol, I think we realized that we were back to the city. Perhaps foreshadowing day five's city to city, Sac to San Francisco...

We can see the finish, but we are not sure we are ready for crowds. One more day on some back country roads with good friends....
